UMW Toyota Recalls 41,000 Vehicles to Replace Airbag Inflators

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has announced a special service campaign to replace the airbag inflators of certain Toyota models sold by the company.

The vehicles involved in this campaign were subjected to a previous Takata airbag inflator recall and repaired between 2014 and 2019, where certain number of vehicles were replaced with a non-desiccated airbag inflators produced by Takata.

In this current campaign, those airbag inflators will be replaced with a further improved airbag inflator components.

There are approximately 41,000 Toyota vehicles manufactured from 2001 to 2013 involved. They are:

  • Vios – produced from May 2003 – August 2007 and from September 2007 – July 2013
  • Corolla Altis – produced from July 2001 to July 2007
  • Camry – produced from June 2002 to December 2005
  • Yaris – produced from January 2006 to August 2007

UMW Toyota will notify all affected vehicle owners officially and perform the special service at no charge to the owners.
