Honda CR-V Gets Facelifted in USA

The Honda CR-V has received its facelift in the US market. Older, more conventional engines have been dropped, and a Hybrid variant has been added along with mild design tweaks to the exterior and interior.

The 2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine has been removed. The 1.5-litre turbocharged engine is now standard and the i-MMD hybrid powertrain that combines a 2-litre Atkinson cycle motor with 2 electric motors is being introduced. This system has an output of 212hp and is twice as efficient as conventional petrol power. It uses a single ratio gearbox. You can learn about it here.

The Hybrid variant no longer uses a gear selector lever, but rather selector buttons. The interior has been mildly redesigned, including new U.I. and graphics. Here are some of the new features to look for on the Hybrid model:

  • Econ, Sport, EV modes on Hybrid
  • Active Sound Control on Sport mode
  • power/charge status on Hybrid model
  • Deceleration selector paddles on Hybrid model

All models get the following new features:

  • Redesigned centre console bin
  • Qi wireless charging
  • Colour driver-information interface
  • 7″ infotainment screen
  • Remote Engine Start
  • Dual Zone Climate Control
  • Electric Parking Brake
  • Rear USB Charging Ports
  • 4-way front passenger seat power adjustment
  • 8-way driver seat power adjustment with 4-way lumbar support

Here’s what the facelift looks like and what design features it brings:

  • new fog light openings on the bumper
  • more pronounced chrome grille
  • round LED fog lights on some trim levels
  • dark tinted taillights
  • dark chrome garnish on rear tailgate
  • new rear bumper
  • Hybrid model with hidden tailpipe
  • New dark gray 18″ wheels
  • 19″ rims on higher trim levels
  • New colours: Sonic Gray Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, Aegean Blue Metallic

Advanced Safety and Driver-Assistive Technology

Honda Sensing comes standard in the US model CR-V. This includes the following active safety features:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and pedestrian sensing capability
  • Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with low-speed follow
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS)

Additional driver-assistive technologies include the available blind spot information (BSI), Rear Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM) and Auto High Beam headlights.
