More Details On The Mustang Mach-E GT “Performance Edition”

In the world of electrified vehicles with instant torque, car manufacturers find more and more creative ways to upsell you on performance.

Just yesterday we covered the A3 Sportback 45 TFSI e, with a small amount more performance than the 40 TFSI. Today, we’ve learnt that Ford are giving their Mustang Mach-E GT a ‘Performance Edition’ that ups the all-electric SUV’s output up a little.

The Mustang Mach-E GT is already the ‘flagship’ variant of the company’s Mache-E range and comes with all-wheel drive with an electric motor at each axle. The motors produce 480hp and 813Nm of torque, but this new ‘Performance Edition’ bumps the torque up to 860Nm. This has the effect of bringing its 0-100km/h acceleration time down from 3.8 seconds to 3.5 seconds.

Unfortunately, this enhancement in performance comes at the cost of electric range. The Mustang Mach-E GT can extract 402km of electric range from a full charge of its 88kWh battery pack. With this Performance Edition, the range comes down to 378km.

Besides that, Ford also add a few other pieces of kit to the mix. There are 19” front brakes with Brembo calipers in red. They also come with 20” machined Ebony Black painted wheels and MagneRide damping. The front seats are Ford Performance-sculpted with Performance Gray ActiveX material with metallic stitching Miko perforated reflective inserts. An aluminum appliqué adorns the front while the rear of the vehicle sports a Performance Edition GT badge.

This all-out version of the Mustang Mach-E is not quite as extreme as THIS ONE, but it’s still extremely fast for a production car. It will only be arriving in the middle of next year, but bookings are available now for US customers. Check out the press release for more juic-E details.

Targeting a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds, Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition joins the Mustang Mach-E GT stable, making an already-fast electric pony even quicker.

Pumping out 480 horsepower (358 kilowatts) and 634 lb.-ft. of torque (860 newton-meters), Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition delivers more torque, grip and better handling by drawing more power from its battery pack and targets an EPA-estimated range of 235 miles.

Offering more than just added “oomph,” the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition features sportier components including 19-inch front brakes with red-painted Brembo® calipers as well as 20-inch machined-face Ebony Black-painted pockets paired with 245/45R20 Pirelli summer tires and MagneRide® damping that helps to improve handling performance.

With the driver in mind, the front seats are Ford Performance-sculpted with Performance Gray ActiveX material featuring metallic stitching and unique Miko perforated reflective inserts. The instrument panel is enhanced by a unique aluminum appliqué, while the rear of the vehicle sports a Performance Edition GT badge.

Both Mustang Mach-E GT and Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition will be available in signature Mustang colors including Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat, Dark Matter Gray Metallic, Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Star White Metallic Tri-Coat, Grabber Blue Metallic, Shadow Black, Iconic Silver Metallic and Space White Metallic.

Reserve the Mustang Mach-E GT here. Customers who have already reserved the Mustang Mach-E GT will have the opportunity to add the Performance Edition package at time of ordering in spring 2021.

Mustang Mach-E GT and GT Performance Edition will be available late next summer.
