Honda Malaysia 2020 Sales Down to 60K, Still No.1 Non-National Brand

For yet another year, Honda Malaysia have remained the number 1 non-national brand in terms of sales. This was shared today by the company based on internal sales data that showed their total sales for 2020 stood at 60,469.

This is the lowest their sales numbers have been since 2013, a year before the previous City generation was launched. Honda became the number 1 non-national brand in Malaysia in 2015 following the launch of the locally-assembled HR-V, tackling a segment in the market still not addressed by any Japanese competitor.

2013: 51,550 sold
2014: 77,485 sold
2015: 94,902 sold
2016: 91,830 sold
2017: 109,511 sold
2018: 102,282 sold
2019: 85,419 sold
2020: 60,469 sold

The all-new City was a significant contributor to the final sales numbers with 10,800 units being delivered in the last 3 months of 2020. This is quite impressive, considering Honda’s main rivals in the B-segment all launched cars this year. The Proton X50 was also launched this year. Honda Malaysia also launched the facelifted BR-V and Civic, along with the all-new Accord this year.
