0KIA Motors Has A 7-Year Factory Warranty For Global Owners
Will this new factory warranty be offered to Malaysian Kia owners?
Kia Motors Corporation has recently announced an extended warranty for Kia vehicles with an original manufacturer warranty that expires between February 1 and April 30, 2020. Most importantly, will Malaysian Kia buyers get this extended warranty cover?
Most Kia owners in Malaysia might not have been informed of this new promise from Kia Motors Corporation as the brand is undergoing some guardian changes or so at this time. Latest news of this will be shared with you once confirmed.
In April 2020, Kia Motors Corporation announced the launch of the ‘Kia Promise’ which is a global warranty extension program for its vehicles. This promise was made on their European Kia website.
The Kia Promise is designed to support Kia customers whose movements may be limited because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Kia Promise covers 142 countries worldwide, and all vehicles with original Kia warranties that expire between 1 February and 30 April 2020. The program extends the warranty of all eligible vehicles to June 30, 2020. Kia Motors believes that more than 500,000 customers worldwide could benefit from the Kia Promise warranty extension.
With many countries and businesses taking precautionary measures to counteract the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kia Promise aims to help customers who may be unable to visit a workshop during this time. The program also helps customers who are not able to bring their car in for free servicing for countries that are locked down.
Sangdae Kim, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Customer Experience Division at Kia Motors Corporation, commented: “By extending Kia’s comprehensive warranty cover to customers who may be affected by the pandemic, Kia Motors hopes they have one less thing to worry about during this time. Our goal is to help to alleviate any concerns our customers have about vehicle maintenance during periods of social distancing.”
In August last year, Kia launched their Sorento Plug-In Hybrid SUV and it came with a promised 7-Year, 150,000-kilometre warranty as standard.
Meanwhile, in January this year, just weeks ago, Kia Motors America offered an amazing 10-year/100,000-mile warranty program, which includes a 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile limited basic warranty, and a 5-year/100,000-mile limited anti-perforation warranty. It also includes roadside assistance coverage for five years or 60,000-miles, whichever happens to come first.
In comparison, Toyota America provides only a 36-month/36,000-mile limited warranty, a 36-month/36,000-mile basic warranty, a 60-month/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, and rust-through coverage for 60-months and unlimited miles for the latest Toyota Camry.
In conclusion, we will need to wait and see what happens in the coning months with the Kia brand in Malaysia.
