Nissan Navara PRO-4X Previewed In Malaysia
The new Nissan Navara PRO-4X takes toughness up a notch and will arrive in Malaysia along with the facelift cycle.
Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) previewed the new Navara PRO-4X, the first Nissan pick-up truck to go ALL-OUT on an off-road, rugged aesthetic, and also extremely high-tech features. Looking at the specification of the Nissan Navara PRO-4X that Malaysia will be getting in mid-April, it’s clear that ETCM is really taking the fight to its competitors.
Yesterday’s preview centred around the Navara PRO-4X, but we’ve also received confirmation that the rest of the Nissan Navara family will be updated at launch. Check this article out to get an idea of what the facelifted Navara family will bring to the table.
The facelifted Navara family is still powered by the YD25 4-cylinder DOHC turbo diesel motor. It still produces 190PS @ 3600rpm and 450Nm @ 2000rpm and is mated to a 7-speed conventional automatic with manual mode. That much is carried forward from the outgoing models.
The Navara PRO-4X specifically comes with a new Electronic Locking Rear Differential system. It also gets a new Trailer Sway Assist system. The rear multilink suspension has been revised. It has dual rate coil springs and is now tuned for less body toss regardless of the load in the truck bed. Nissan claims comfort is now on par with an SUV.
The truck bed now features a torsion bar tailgate assist so that it’s lighter to operate. There is also now an integrated rear bumper step. Nissan has also deployed a new Utili-Track Channel system. This system integrates 4 forged aluminium cleats that lock anywhere along 2 channels in the truck bed, making loading easier and faster. The new Navara PRO-4X has a maximum payload capacity of 1.1 tonnes.
The Navara PRO-4X will come with more distinctive styling than the standard model. In terms of aesthetics, it gets:
- a more aggressive, black ‘Interlock’ front grille with ‘NAVARA’ badging on it
- black fender flares
- black door handles
- black door mirrors
- black roof rails
- black side steps
- 17″ black wheels
- all terrain tyres
- New Nissan logo in Red and Black on
- front grille
- tailgate
- wheel caps
The new Navara PRO-4X will debut Quad LED Projector headlamps and C-shaped LED daytime running lights as well as LED tail lights. ‘NAVARA’ is stamped on the tailgate.
Nissan has paid special attention to making the Navara PRO-4X extra quiet. They’ve done this by using acoustic laminated glass on the windscreen and front windows. The list of equipment is pretty impressive as well:
- 7″ Advanced Drive-Assist Digital Display (instrument cluster)
- 3-spoke leather steering wheel
- 8″ infotainment unit with Apple Carplay and Android Auto
- Zero Gravity Inspired Leather front seats
- redesigned rear seats with added support
- new rear armrest with cupholders
- 3 USB type-A ports, 1 USB type-C port
Nissan also pushed safety standards to the limits for pick-up trucks with this Navara PRO-4X. Here’s what it comes with:
