Renault Megane R.S. 300 Trophy Arrives At RM326,476
The French hot hatch gets a power bump but it is no longer offered with a manual transmission
TC Euro Cars has announced the launch of the facelifted Renault Megane R.S. 300 Trophy to the market. The new model is priced at RM326,476 (on-the-road without insurance) with the SST exemption. It comes with a three-year or 100,000 km warranty.
If purchasing isn’t an option, customers can opt for TCEC’s subscription programme, with a monthly fee from RM5,200 for a three-year plan. The fee is inclusive of road tax, insurance and regular service. However, each plan comes with an annual mileage cap of 20,000 km.
Back to the Megane R.S. 300 Trophy, the main highlight lies in the engine bay, where the turbocharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine has been tuned to produce 300 PS and 420 Nm of torque, 20 PS and 30 Nm more than what was offered by the R.S. 280.
Despite the increase in output, the Megane is no longer offered with a six-speed manual transmission. The sole transmission option here is a six-speed Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) ‘box which enables the car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.
The EDC’s shift pattern can be configured via R.S. Drive modes, namely My Sense, Save, Sport and Race. In Sport and Race, drivers can use the Launch Control and Multi-Change Down functions. The latter lets them drop several gears simultaneously by pressing and holding down the left-hand paddle. The best gear is then selected to exit the corner as efficiently as possible.
As for the chassis, R.S. 300 is equipped with the Cup chassis that features a recalibrated Torsen mechanical LSD. There’s also 4Control, a four-wheel steering system that delivers agility through tight turns and stability at higher speeds.
Equipment-wise, the hatch comes standard with new full LED headlamps with revised daytime running lights, as well as new rear LED lighting signature. 19-inch Jerez wheels, along with F1-style blades on the front complete its dynamic look.
Inside, owners will find, among other things, exclusive R.S. double-diamond stamped leather upholstery, Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, 7-inch customisable TFT driver’s information display and an EASYLINK 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Besides the new Flame Red featured here, the new Megane R.S. 300 Trophy is also available in Diamond Black, Pearl White, Liquid Yellow and Orange Tonic. The last two are signature colours and ticking either box will cost customers an additional RM9,000.
