Mercedes-Benz EQA Launched In Malaysia For RM278,201
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launch their first ever electric vehicle – the EQA.
At an event at the Petrosains Discovery Centre in KLCC, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launched the Mercedes-Benz EQA, under their Mercedes-EQ sub-brand. The EQA is the smallest electric vehicle produced by Mercedes-Benz and it is now their first EV offering in Malaysia.
Priced at RM278,201, the Mercedes-Benz EQA’s pricing benefits from being exempt from excise and import duties, sales tax, road tax and has other tax benefits for customers. These incentives were announced by the Malaysian government to increase the adoption of electric vehicles in the country. But at RM278K, the EQA is hardly the affordable EV offering many Malaysians were anticipating.
The EQA is equipped with a 66.5kWh lithium-ion battery which should return some 486km of electric range. DC Fast Charging should get the battery from 10%-80% in just half an hour while AC charging should get the car charged up in about 5 hours.
The EQA gets a 4-year/unlimited mileage manufacturer warranty from Mercedes-Benz along with an 8-year/160,000km battery warranty. The optional wallbox comes with a 2-year warranty.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has also partnered up with JomCharge to give EQA owners 1-year free subscription which enables 50% discounts when charging at all JomCharge stations. This is limited to the first 1000 EQ customers.
The company has also decided to install 13 new DC Fast Charging stations at strategic dealer locations in the peninsular which will be free to use for EQ customers until the end of 2023.
