‘BRA’ Number Plate Series Opens For Bidding This Week
There will be a rush to get this number plates
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced that the BRA number plate series will be open for bidding from 29th June until 3rd July 2022 at 10 pm.
As it has been since 2019, bids can be made online via the department’s online auction platform called JPJ eBid. The bidding results will be announced via email on the following day after the final date, which in this case will be 4th July 2022.
To those unfamiliar with JPJ eBid, the platform is pretty to use and most importantly, it allows you to bid your desired number without having to visit a JPJ branch or use the services of a ‘runner’. First up, you’ll need to register (either as an individual or company).
Next, log in using your IC number as your ID (or company registration number if you registered as a company) and once you’re in, you’ll be able to see the number plate series that is currently open for bidding.
To make it easier for you to choose your desired numbers, the plate number series is divided into four categories, namely Golden, Attractive, Popular and Running. For Golden numbers, the minimum bid for is RM20,000, with a minimum incremental bid of RM1,000. The bid for Attractive numbers starts from RM3,000 and the minimum bid increment is RM150.
Meanwhile, Popular numbers start from RM800, with minimum bid increment of RM40. As for Running numbers, these can be bid starting from RM300 with an incremental bid of just RM15. Note that the increments for each type of number increase by 100% in the final 30 minutes of the bidding period.
Those who win the bid will be given 12 months to register the number on a vehicle. Should he/she fail to register the number within the specified period, the number can be withdrawn and offered to other interested parties.
