Govt Prepares RM69/Month 30Mbps Broadband Packages For B40 And Underprivileged

The Ministry of Digital Communications has helped to create a lower cost broadband package.

The Malaysian Unity Government, committed to reducing the cost of living, recently made an announcement that will greatly benefit certain groups in society. Fahmi Fadzil, the Minister of Digital Communications, unveiled the Fixed Internet Broadband Unity Package, a new initiative aimed at providing low-cost internet services to the B40 group, veterans, disabled individuals, and the elderly.

high speed broadband for lower price

The package offers fast and reliable internet services with speeds of up to 30 Mbps and unlimited data, available at an affordable price of RM69.00 per month. The package is set to launch in March 2023 and will require a 24-month subscription contract.

Compared to the current market price for packages with similar specifications, this new package offers a 22% discount, meaning that subscribers can save up to RM480 over the course of their contract. This is great news for those who may have found internet services to be a financial burden in the past.

This new initiative is the result of a collaboration between the Unity Government and several fixed broadband service providers, including Telekom Malaysia (TM), CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, YTL, TIME Berhad, and Astro. These providers have come together to offer this package in response to the needs and welfare of the people.

This package is not only a testament to the Unity Government’s dedication to reducing the cost of living, but it is also a sign that the government and service providers are taking the needs of the people seriously. They are working together to ensure that everyone has access to comprehensive digital connectivity at an affordable price.

The Fixed Internet Broadband Unity Package is a much-needed initiative that will help to provide low-cost internet services to those who may have struggled with financial barriers in the past. The government and service providers should be commended for their efforts in ensuring that everyone has access to digital connectivity, regardless of their financial situation. This package is just the beginning of a more comprehensive and inclusive digital landscape, one that is accessible to all Malaysians.
