Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Donates Solar Lighting To Orang Asli Communities

The latest contribution from Mercedes-Benz Malaysia: RM10,000 worth of solar lighting and more.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) is one of those companies that consistently gives back. Whether it’s brightening up Rumah Hope’s Christmas or bringing support to the Malaysian arts scene, the company has left its mark on our nation. The latest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) action by MBM was done in partnership with Ecotourism & Conservation Society Malaysia, also known as ECOMY.

MBM contributed RM10,000 towards ECOMY’s KampungKu Project, which saw the installation of solar lighting for 20 Orang Asli families of the Bateq tribe in Kampung Sungai Garam and Kampung Bencah Kelubi, Merapoh, Pahang.

This was part of Mercedes-Benz Grants for Good programme, which saw employees deliver and install 20 SunKing Pro Solar Lights with panels to these orang asli families. Besides the solar-powered lights, MBM also brought with them towels, blankets, clothes, and toys donated by its own employees. These contributions were hand delivered by MBM employees who drove Mercedes-Benz SUVs for 3 hours to reach the remote villages.
