0All-New BMW 5 Series Family Officially Includes Locally-Assembled 520i M Sport Variant
BMW Group Malaysia adds the CKD 520i M Sport to the list of available 5 Series models.
The 8th generation BMW 5 Series was first introduced to the Malaysian market in November of last year in its all-electric form. Then during the Malaysia Autoshow 2024, BMW Group Malaysia previewed the locally-assembled 520i. Today, they went one step further by updating this variant to the 520i M Sport. Pricing rises from RM332,800 to RM349,800 for the additional equipment, but the optional 5-year BMW Service & Repair Package still costs RM26,900. This means that realistically, the new BMW 520i M Sport has a price tag of RM376,700, making it a little more expensive than the all-new E200 which was launched earlier this month for RM355,888. The regular 520i is still available for those seeking maximum value. Head to the official BMW Malaysia configurator to see all 4 versions of the new 5 Series available here.
The Locally-Assembled BMW 520i M Sport
Like the standard 520i, the M Sport is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo mild hybrid powertrain that sends 208hp and 330Nm of torque to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic. The 520i goes from 0-100km/h in just 7.5 seconds. As of now, BMW Group Malaysia has yet to launch a plug-in hybrid variant such as the 530e or 550e xDrive.
The 520i M Sport adds the M Sport package to the exterior in shadowline trim, plus 19″ M Sport wheels and the Iconic Glow kidney grille. The M Sport package includes M Sport Package, M Headliner Anthracite, a 3-spoke M Leather Steering Wheel, M Sport Exterior Parts, M Sport Interior Parts, Dark Silver M Accents, and M High Gloss Shadowline.
The BMW 520i M Sport is available in Mineral White, Oxide Grey (exclusive to M Sport), Black Sapphire, and Cape York Green with the interior upholstered in either black or espresso brown Veganza perforated leather. Trim pieces are finished in Dark Silver M Accent combined with Aluminium Rhombicle. The Phytonic Blue exterior colour appears to be unavailable on this M Sport model. The interior trim on the standard model is Dark Silver Accent with Fine-Wood Trim Grey Blue Ash but the biggest difference is the 2-spoke steering on the non-M Sport variant.
