0BYD Atto 3 Updated In Malaysia: Extended Range, More Equipment, Same Price
Just 4 months ago, Sime Darby Beyond Auto refreshed the BYD Atto 3 EV, enhancing many aspects but also removing the option for a longer range model. Today the Atto 3 Extended Range returns in its enhanced form at Sime Darby’s AutoMania 2024 event at the Bukit Jalil Stadium Carpark B. At the same RM149,800 price tag, this variant replaces the standard range model from May.
The BYD Atto 3 still only comes in one variant, but now that one variant has been improved with a larger 60.48 kWh battery which gives it up to 480km on the generous NEDC cycle. This new battery pack also enables slightly better acceleration though the electric motor’s output remains unchanged at 204PS and 310Nm of torque.
It now goes from 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds, which is down from 7.9 seconds previously. The upgrade to the battery also brings with it an upgrade to DC charging speeds from 70kW to 88kW. The new charge speed should get you from 10% to 80% in 40 minutes. Unfortunately, AC charging is still capped at 7kW, so a full charge from 0% at home will take almost 10 hours.
Equipment-wise, we also see a huge number of updates. This includes a set of 18″ alloy wheels (up from 17″ alloys before), an 8-speaker Diract HD Sound system (up from 6-speakers), a one-touch open/close tailgate, a PM2.5 air filter, and multi-colour ambient lighting synchronized to music rhythm.
The upgrades from May, such as the 15.6″ rotating screen, Continental EcoContact 6Q tyres and new BYD badge at the rear and black D-pillar covers are all brought forward once again. You still get adaptive LED headlights, roof rails, keyless entry, powered front seats, wired Apple Carplay, wireless Android Auto and much more.
Despite the upgrades, the pricing of the BYD Atto 3 has stayed unchanged at RM149,800. The first 300 bookings will come with a Wallbox Home Charger, 3 years service package and 4 years free road tax.
