PUSPAKOM Announces It Will Cease Operations At Its Wangsa Maju Office By June

PUSPAKOM Wangsa Maju will soon be a thing of the past

PUSPAKOM Sdn Bhd (PUSPAKOM), Malaysia’s vehicle inspection company has announced that it has received instructions from the Malaysian Ministry of Transport to cease all operations at PUSPAKOM Wangsa Maju no later than June this year.

This closure is to make way for the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to build a new facility on the same site. Chief Executive Officer of PUSPAKOM, Mahmood Razak Bahman said it will make a separate announcement regarding its plans to amend service hours around Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Negeri Sembilan to deal with the effects of the closure.

Moreover, Mahmood stated, “On average, PUSPAKOM Wangsa Maju inspects 800 vehicles a day. So we need to review the service hours of some branches to accommodate the closing of this lot.” He also explained that a permanent replacement branch has already been identified and approved by JPJ last year.

Mahmood also said, “The original plan for closure was set for December 2026. We agreed to close this location because it is one of the busiest branches, but is located in a high density area. The alternate branch approved by JPJ is in Bukit Lucky, Rawang, and will be ready in December next year. Although the early closing of PUSPAKOM Wangsa Maju creates new problems, we will try to accommodate by amending the operating hours at other branches.”

On top of that, PUSPAKOM Wangsa Maju inspects vehicles of all categories including heavy vehicles, but not all branches have the ability to inspect heavy vehicles. The company urges their customers to check vehicles early i.e. within 14 days before the expiry date of the vehicle permit. This will make it easier for them if they fail the original test.

“If they fail the original test on the last day of their permit, then they will rush to fix the vehicle and come in for an inspection again. If the inspection is done early, as allowed by the authorities, then owners will have more time to repair their vehicles and present for re-examination.” explained Mahmood.

PUSPAKOM Wangsa Maju is one of the company’s oldest branches. It opened in 1995, and has six inspection lanes with a total area of 4.3 acres. Development costs when it opened were more than RM10 million. A total of 37 staff are on duty at the branch and we hope they all have something else lined up by June.
