Will The JETOUR X70 Be Renamed When It Is Launch In Malaysia

The JETOUR X70 is scheduled to arrive in Malaysia later this year 2025

Did you know that in August 18, 2018, JETOUR Auto launched its first product, the JETOUR X70. Pronounced as Jietu, this is a sub-brand of Chery Auto who also has JAECOO as its sub-brand.

Today, the brand has developed four major product series: JETOUR X70 series, JETOUR X90 (hmmm could it be a coincidence that it is named very similar to the Proton X90) series, JETOUR DASHING and JETOUR T2.

JETOUR X70

JETOUR has achieved the dual championship of being the fastest-growing new SUV brand in China and the top-selling large SUV among Chinese domestic brands.

Since 2019, JETOUR Auto embarked on its journey of going global, accelerating its global strategic layout. The company primarily targets over 45 countries and regions in the Middle East, Africa, Central and South America, Asia-Pacific, and the CIS. JETOUR Auto has established over 600 sales and service networks and has started strategic layout in emerging markets and EU markets.

JETOUR X70

The JETOUR X70 Plus (which is a 7 seater SUV) and X70 (which is a 5 seater) was previewed (side be side with the DASHING) in Malaysia during a Motors Show in May 2024.

It is a more conventional looking SUV for the average Malaysian family with seating for 7. This too will be offered in 2 variants which will be Prime (similar to the e.MAS 7 basic variant) and Signature.

So, it is very likely the name will be changed for our market but what’s clear is that both the Proton X70 and the JETOUR X70 share very similar features, size and we guess, selling price.

Both have similar powertrains but the horsepower rating is lower at 150PS in the X70 despite it being a slightly larger SUV.

Meanwhile, we wait for the JETOUR brand launch in Malaysia with their JETOUR DASHING SUV which is powered by a 1.6L turbocharged engine that delivers 197PS and 290Nm of torque. This SUV measures in at a 4,590 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and features a wheelbase of 2,720 mm. This puts it about the same size as the current Mazda CX-5, as well as the Proton X70.
