Ready for your own MINI adventure?
Did you know that the all new all-electric Cooper SE was launched in July 2024 alongside its petrol-powered sibling, as well as the twin-pairing of EV and ICE Countryman.

It was initially teased at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 two months earlier. This second-iteration of the zero-emissions British hatchback is to be available in Auto Bavaria showrooms from RM193,888, or RM200,188 with the 5-year ‘Extended Warranty & Service Package’ included.
So, this all-electric MINI rides upon an all-new EV platform that was developed as a joint-venture between Great Wall Motor and BMW. A single front-mounted e-motor making 218 PS and 330 Nm of torque provides propulsion in this SE, which is in turn apparently sufficient to see this zero-emissions hatchback go from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, and on to a V-max of 170 km/h.
Did you know that this new MINI Cooper is born from what its designers dub ‘Characteristic Simplicity’ design language. Such as the name implies therefore, the exterior aesthetic of this 2nd-generation EV is radically more minimalist than the outgoing model, with flush-fitting door handles and its body devoid of any shiny chrome trim.
Even the black body mouldings have been shaved off in pursuit of minimalism, but I for one at least think that the designers might just have been a little bit too gung-ho on the redesign. That is as this Cooper has somehow has lost its MINI-ness (to me at least), with its gaping body-coloured grille and triangular LED taillights looking more like a cheap (and slightly depressed-looking) clone of a MINI instead of the real deal.
