Volkswagen Tayron 7-Seater SUV Set To Launch In Europe, Malaysia Next?

Will Volkswagen also fill the 7-seater SUV hole here in Malaysia with the Tayron?

Anyone remember the Honda BR-V here? Yea, good memories, huh. While there is certainly a demand for more seats here in Malaysia, it appears that any 7-seater that isn’t affordable and spacious is simply destined to fail. Well, Volkswagen may be changing that soon with its newest offering, a luxury 7-seater SUV, the Tayron.

For now Volkswagen only has plans to launch the Tayron in Europe, but we remain hopeful it will soon be sold in Malaysia as well. This model will fill the gap between the premium Touareg and the mid-sized Tiguan in Volkswagen’s lineup but more importantly, add another option to the usual suspects for Malaysians who want something different.

Moreover, available in five- or seven-seater configurations, the Tayron is also versatile as one can opt for more cargo room if the extra 2 seats are not needed. Production for the Tayron is based in Wolfsburg, Germany and it features the latest modular transverse (MQB evo) platform and integrates high-end technologies from the Touareg.

One of the standout features of the Volkswagen Tayron is its luxurious interior, which includes real wood trim, offering a premium feel. The spacious cabin also boasts a luggage compartment with a remarkable capacity of up to 885 liters, making it perfect for long journeys or family trips while still being able to seat 7 should you have that number of occupants to seat.

On top of that, the Volkswagen Tayron’s aerodynamics are designed to be best-in-class, enhancing both performance and fuel efficiency. Additionally, the plug-in hybrid version of the SUV offers an estimated electric range of over 100 km, positioning it as one of the most efficient plug-in hybrid systems globally.

The Volkswagen Tayron will come in three distinct variants, namely Life, Elegance and R-Line. The Life version offers a comprehensive package with plenty of features, while the Elegance variant adds a touch of luxury, including open-pore wood and noise-insulating glass. For a sportier look, the R-Line model offers unique design elements that enhance its athletic appeal.

What’s more, under the hood, the Tayron will offer a variety of powertrains, including two plug-in hybrid models, a mild hybrid and turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. Power outputs will range from 110kW (150 PS) to 200kW (272 PS), with all variants equipped with the brand’s DSG gearbox for smooth performance.

The Volkswagen Tayron will also sport advanced lighting technology and a spacious, well-equipped interior. The dashboard includes a digital cockpit and a large infotainment touchscreen, with options for premium audio and navigation systems. Additionally, the Tayron is equipped with many ADAS systems such as adaptive cruise control and parking assistance too
