The Volvo EX90 has claimed the title of World Luxury Car based on evaluations by 96 judges.
The prestigious Volvo EX90 has claimed the title of World Luxury Car, cementing its position as a leader in the premium automotive segment. The seven-seater fully electric SUV impressed the international jury with its refined interior, cutting-edge technology, and distinctive Scandinavian design elements that set it apart from competitors.

Announced during a ceremony at the New York International Auto Show, the World Car Awards recognition comes after extensive evaluations by 96 automotive journalists representing 30 countries worldwide. The judges were particularly captivated by the EX90’s silent yet powerful performance, coupled with its ergonomic and luxurious interior specifically designed for maximum comfort during long journeys.

The Volvo EX90 was launched in Malaysia just last week for RM442,888 – a price that free of import tax and excise duties.
The EX90’s design philosophy embodies the fundamentals of Scandinavian design, where form consistently follows function. Drawing inspiration from yacht design, the vehicle features sleek proportions with a confidently rounded front end that optimizes airflow around the car. This thoughtful approach, combined with flush elements like side glazing, significantly enhances aerodynamics and efficiency.
A standout technological feature is the integrated LiDAR system, which works alongside cameras, radars, and ultrasonic sensors to provide comprehensive awareness of the vehicle’s surroundings. The LiDAR can detect vulnerable road users up to 200 meters away, even in complete darkness, representing a significant advancement in automotive safety technology.

Inside the cabin, which ranks among the quietest in its segment, passengers experience Volvo’s unique interpretation of modern luxury. The interior showcases progressive materials like Nordico, a bio-attributed leather-free upholstery crafted from recycled materials and sustainable forest products from Sweden and Finland. Advanced LED lighting technology that mimics natural sunlight and back-lit FSC-certified wood decor further enhance the premium ambiance.

The EX90 excels as a true seven-seater with exceptional cargo capabilities—offering 310 liters of storage behind the third row and expanding to 655 liters with the third row folded, outperforming many competitors in its class.
This achievement marks Volvo Cars’ third World Car Award, following the 2018 World Car of the Year for the XC60 and the 2024 World Urban Car for the EX30. The company continues to demonstrate excellence in creating vehicles that combine luxury, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology for discerning customers worldwide.
