The accident also involved a Nissan X-Trail being driven by a local woman
Another day, another fatal accident. This time, the fatal crash took place on the East Coast Expressway (LPT) claimed the lives of two Chinese nationals and left six others injured on Friday afternoon. The collision occurred at Kilometer 234.7 on the stretch heading toward Kuantan, around 2:00 PM.

According to a statement by Kuantan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Zahari Wan Busu, the accident involved two vehicles, a Mercedes-Benz carrying three Chinese citizens and a Nissan X-Trail driven by a local woman accompanied by her family. Sadly, two of the Chinese nationals had passed away.
Moreover, preliminary investigations suggest that the Nissan X-Trail, which was traveling from Kuala Lumpur towards Kuantan, lost control and collided with the right-hand road divider. The impact caused the vehicle to veer sharply into the left lane. Tragically, the Mercedes-Benz following closely behind was unable to stop in time and crashed into the rear of the Nissan.
The two passengers in the Mercedes-Benz, identified as Zhengtai and Chunhua, were pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries sustained in the impact. The driver of the vehicle, Zhu Lin Shun, survived but suffered injuries to his right hand along with other non-fatal injuries.

The driver of the Nissan X-Trail, 30-year-old Noor Amirah Mohd Salleh, also sustained a hip injury and is currently receiving treatment in the Red Zone of Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) in Kuantan. Four other family members who were traveling with her, including a child, were also injured.
On top of that, two of them have been placed in the Red Zone due to the severity of their injuries, while the other two are being treated in the Yellow Zone, indicating moderate trauma. Emergency response teams arrived swiftly at the scene of the accident, and all the injured were transported to HTAA for immediate medical attention.
The police have opened an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. Authorities are continuing their inquiries to determine the exact cause of the incident and whether any negligence was involved.

This tragic accident, while horrific, should serve as a sobering reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for vigilance while traveling, especially during busy holiday or weekend periods when highways are more congested. Always stay vigilant on the road.
