The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is set for a global debut this year
Hyundai has officially revealed the IONIQ 9, a new flagship three-row electric SUV designed for modern families seeking advanced mobility and expansive comfort. Debuting at the iconic Goldstein House in Los Angeles, a fitting venue symbolizing innovation and design, the IONIQ 9 extends Hyundai’s award-winning IONIQ lineup.

Built on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the IONIQ 9 delivers a spacious, lounge-like interior with seating for up to seven. Notable features include Relaxation Seats with massage functionality, second-row Swiveling Seats for face-to-face interaction, and a Panoramic Sunroof.
Moreover, the vehicle’s interior emphasizes comfort, sustainability, and flexibility, with ample legroom, advanced climate controls, and eco-conscious materials like recycled PET fabric and bio-based leather. Sustainability is a big factor these days so this is definitely a good choice by Hyundai.

The SUV also introduces Hyundai’s Universal Island 2.0 center console, offering impressive storage and improved accessibility. Cargo space is generous, with up to 1,323 liters available when the third row is folded. The design reflects Hyundai’s ‘Aerosthetic’ philosophy, with a low drag coefficient (as low as 0.259 Cd), smooth lines, and Parametric Pixel LED lighting.
Powered by a 110.3 kWh high-voltage battery, the IONIQ 9 also targets up to 620km of range (WLTP, RWD Long-Range model). Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes just 24 minutes with a 350kW charger. Powertrains include RWD, AWD and Performance AWD variants, the latter achieving the century sprint in just 5.2 seconds.

On top of that, Hyundai introduces its Features on Demand (FoD) service for digital upgrades, such as lighting effects and streaming services. The IONIQ 9 includes Hyundai’s AI Assistant voice control, over-the-air updates, Bluelink® connected services, a UV-C sterilizer, 100W USB-C ports and a comprehensive infotainment system with optional BOSE audio.
Safety is a top priority, with 10 airbags and advanced driver-assistance systems like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind-Spot Monitoring. The SUV also boasts terrain mode, digital side mirrors (market dependent), and up to 5,000 lbs of towing capacity (U.S. model).

With production set to begin in the first half of 2025 for Korea and the U.S., followed by other global markets, the IONIQ 9 signals Hyundai’s continued leadership in electric mobility, offering cutting-edge tech, sustainability and premium comfort in one innovative package. So how much will it cost here in Malaysia?
