The fatal collision between a Perodua Myvi and Toyota Vios is still being investigated
A tragic early morning accident claimed the life of an 18-year-old girl on her way to work, following a three-vehicle collision in Kampung Penerok today. While we all hope to live in an ideal world, we do not live and thus, accidents happen, but fatal accidents are always far worse and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the victim.
The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. when the victim, identified as Nur Shahira Danish Abdullah, was riding her Honda RSX motorcycle en route to her job at a biscuit factory in Kampung Rimba Terjun. According to Pontian District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohammad Shofee Tayib, she sustained severe injuries to her head and body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Moreover, preliminary police investigations revealed that the accident began when a Perodua Myvi, driven by a schoolteacher, attempted to make a right turn out of an intersection. In doing so, the car entered the path of Nur Shahira’s motorcycle, which was traveling straight along the main road.
Unable to avoid the sudden obstruction, a collision occurred, sending the teenager hurtling into the opposite lane. Tragically, at that moment, a Toyota Vios coming from the direction of Pontian struck her after she was flung into its path. The impact proved fatal for the young motorcyclist. We hope this serves as a reminder to all our readers to always drive safely.
On top of that, the driver of the Toyota Vios escaped the incident without injury, while the Perodua Myvi sustained significant front-end damage. Superintendent Mohammad Shofee confirmed that the initial findings suggest negligence on the part of the Myvi driver, who failed to yield the right of way when exiting the junction, leading to the chain-reaction crash.

Authorities believe the failure to check for oncoming traffic played a key role in the fatal incident. “This is a heartbreaking case, especially considering the victim was just starting her day and heading to work,” he said in a statement released later in the day. The police are continuing their investigation to determine whether further action should be taken against those involved.
They have urged anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has relevant information to come forward. Members of the public are encouraged to assist by contacting Investigating Officer Inspector Aiman Faiz Jusoh at 011-26561677.
