The upcoming all-electric GLC is an electrification of the most popular Benz model.
Mercedes-Benz has had a relatively rocky start to electrification. They started things off with the EQC – which adopted the previous generation GLC to electric powertrain tech, but didn’t go ‘all the way’. The EQC had the new generation dashboard, but other parts of the cabin were carried over from the older design language. Adopting the outgoing model also resulted in sub-optimal packaging and awkward styling. Now, Mercedes-Benz is gearing up for a second attempt and this time they’ll get it right.
The all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ Technology will be more than a powertrain variation of the current generation GLC chassis. There will be massive design changes over the current GLC. with this electric model introducing a new face of the brand as the first in a family of upcoming vehicles.

From the video above we see major changes to the exterior and interior design. Seats are new and even the glasshouse looks different to the current GLC. We’re also going to get a ‘floating’ next gen MBUX Hyperscreen opered by MB.OS.

Mercedes-Benz has gone and improved legroom and headroom for all occupants by stretching the wheelbase by 8cm. The covered boot has 570L of capacity which can be expanded to 1740L with the rear seats folded down. The frunk has an additional 128L of space, which should be more than enough for charging cables and more.

Interestingly, the GLC with EQ Technology is built on an 800 volt system and comes with the latest battery generation. This reduces the time it takes to do a quick DC charging top up to just ten minutes for 260km of range when a 320kW charging station is used.

Besides that, the air suspension tech from the S-Class makes an appearance here. Plus, when the car is specified with the Agility & Comfort Package, you also get rear-axle steering for improved stability at high speed and maneuverability at low speed.

Mercedes-Benz is banking hard on the success of this new GLC with EQ technology and I really hope they got the formula right this time. We’ll find out for sure in September at the Munich motor show 2025
