See the winners for the Volkswagen Shutter Stories Photo contest
From the thrill of open-road romance to vibrant snapshots of daily life, Malaysians proudly showcased their talent and creativity in the inaugural Volkswagen Shutter Stories photography competition. Organized by VPCM in collaboration with Fujifilm Malaysia, the contest was a celebration of passion, storytelling and the love for photography.

The Grand Prize went to 35-year-old Hasanul Asyraf bin Hanafi, who impressed the judges with his unique visual storytelling. His reward included a Fujifilm camera and lens set worth up to RM7,000, a valuable mentorship programme with seasoned photographer Aaron Lee, and a one-year contract as an official photographer for VPCM.
Moreover, this opportunity aims to help Hasanul develop his craft, especially within the dynamic world of automotive photography. First runner-up Kelvin Ooi, 23, received a Fujifilm instax Mini 99 camera with film worth RM1,200, while second runner-up Neeventhaa Perabagaran, a 19-year-old student from MMU, took home a Fujifilm instax Pal camera worth RM588, along with exclusive Volkswagen merchandise.

“Volkswagen is more than just a car brand—it represents connection, character, and the joy of the journey,” said Charles Lim, Brand Manager at VPCM. “This competition allowed us to celebrate these values through the eyes of Malaysians. We saw love, vibrancy, and adventure come alive in every frame.”
On top of that, he added, “It’s not just about the cars, but about the stories and people behind them. Through these images, we got to witness the spirit of Malaysia—its roads, its colours, its people—and we’re grateful to everyone who shared their world with us.”

Thomas Kwan, Senior Sales and Marketing Manager of the Electronic Imaging & Instax Division at Fujifilm Malaysia, also shared his excitement. “This collaboration with Volkswagen allowed us to support local creativity and innovation. The participants showed how photography can beautifully capture the essence of a brand like Volkswagen through their unique lenses.”

The competition welcomed Malaysians and residents aged 18 and above to submit photographs based on five core themes: VW Love, VW Adventure, VW People, VW Motion, and VW Life & Colours. Over 30 participants submitted photo sets across all five categories, with at least two images featuring a Volkswagen model, each frame capturing a distinct piece of the brand’s spirit.
