Why Did Rolls-Royce Motor Cars KL Issue An Advertisement On Anas Zawawi?
Anas Zawawi Khalid is the Executive Director of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Kuala Lumpur and he has been in the position for a good 8 years (since 2017).
At every Rolls-Royce launch and customer events, nearly all video and print interviews are with him.
Meanwhile, the Group Executive Director of Quill Group and Chairman of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Kuala Lumpur, Dato’ Michael Ong, who is also a property tycoon, is never in the spotlight. Nor is his co-founder Dato’ Jennifer Low, for that matter.
This has led the Malaysian media and also the Rolls-Royce customer base in Malaysia to see Anas Zawawi as the front man for the brand and its image.

So, is Quill Group retiring from the Rolls-Royce business after a good sales run in the past few years, not forgetting the more than 20 Rolls Royce units sold in 2024. Yes, for most of you 20 plus units might sound like a ‘drop in the ocean’ but Rolls-Royce is in a different segment and pricing to other brands. Volume is not the point, or the cars wouldn’t be exclusive.
BMW sells about 10,000 cars or so every year (some years even a high 13,500 cars in 2024), however, you are looking at a brand that has been increasing sales year on year (including bespoke versions).
If Anas Zawawi is no longer representing Rolls Royce’s business for Quill Group, this could ‘in our opinion’, open new business opportunities for the Approved Permit holder, which is, Rolls-Royce “Provenance”.
Now this is the Certified Pre-Owned program from Rolls Royce UK, where vehicles are meticulously inspected and restored to original factory standards by factory-trained technicians using genuine Rolls-Royce parts, ensuring they meet the highest possible level of quality and craftsmanship for a like-new experience.
Each Provenance vehicle undergoes a comprehensive 360-degree inspection, a full history check, and even a road test to uphold Rolls-Royce’s legendary standards and provide customers with an unparalleled, attentive level of detail comparable to purchasing a new vehicle.
Meanwhile, we have seen a steady rise in used Rolls-Royce vehicles coming into Malaysia the last 4 years and the profit margins should be very healthy. Buyers can either get Bespoke to order or get their Rolls-Royce cars fast via Provenance (no waiting for it to be hand built and shipped over), while sellers enjoy fat margins.
So, could Rolls-Royce Approved Permit holder in Malaysia, Anas Zawawi Khalid be moving further into the very lucrative Certified Pre-Owned Rolls-Royce business? Or is he even thinking of starting his own dealership, given the wealth of knowledge he has on the market, the products and his relationship with the Rolls-Royce factory?
