Lexus Sport Concept Might Be The LFA Replacement

Meet the Lexus Sport Concept which is probably the LFA replacement many have been waiting for

Did you know that yesterday at The Quail, A Motorsport Gathering at The Quail Lodge and Golf Club in Carmel, California.

Toyota’s luxury brand Lexus took the wraps off its Lexus Sport Concept. This is a preview of what we’ve been calling the LFR, and it looks like a blend of LFA and LC500.

No details of its powertrain and the interior was not shown to the public which means it is months away from public launch.

Now in case you didn’t know this, the Lexus LFA which is needing a replacement was a high-performance supercar which was produced from 2010 to 2012.

It was known for its unique V10 engine and advanced materials like carbon fiber reinforced plastic.

A special Nürburgring Package was also offered, enhancing its track focus with aerodynamic and suspension upgrades. Lexus used the LFA to test and develop advanced technologies, including CFRP production and human-machine interfaces.

Key Features of the Lexus LFA:

Engine: 4.8-liter V10 engine, producing 553 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. 

Performance: 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds, top speed of 202 mph. 

Materials: Primarily utilizes carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) for the body and cabin, contributing to its lightweight design. 

Then there was the Nürburgring Package. Available as an option on a limited number of LFAs, featuring aerodynamic enhancements, suspension tuning, and increased power. 

Acoustic Design: The LFA’s engine sound was meticulously crafted, with Yamaha developing a special device to convey the engine’s sound within the cabin. 

CFRP Production: The LFA served as a testing ground for Lexus’s CFRP production technology, including unique joining methods. 

Lexus LFA Nürburgring Package:

  • Offered on a maximum of 50 of the 500 total LFAs produced. 
  • Includes a larger front spoiler, side fin-type spoilers, and a new fixed rear wing for increased downforce. 
  • Suspension is tuned for a sportier, track-focused experience. 
  • Engine output is increased by 10bhp to 562bhp. 
  • Gear shifts in the six-speed sequential transmission are shortened to 0.15 seconds. 
  • Owners were offered driving instruction and a one-year pass to the Nürburgring circuit.
