This BYD Seal 6 is not related to the BYD Seal From 2023
Many Malaysians love the BYD Seal performance sedan which arrived a year ago. Many Malaysians love its supercar acceleration. Many Malaysians love the Seal performance sedan asking price. Many Malaysians want to have one in their garage. Many Malaysians are wondering why the Seal is priced at RM171k and this latest Seal ‘6’ is priced just RM100k (that’s a whopping RM71k difference).
Launched just weeks ago at the car park of 1Utama Shopping Mall, this all new electric BYD sedan made heads turn and got more camera clicks than expected at its unveiling.
Why? Well, BYD had delivered a city commuter electric sedan at a price side by side with the Toyota Vios and Honda City RS and they were proud of it.
Good news right now as Sime Motors is now offering an additional generous rebate of RM3,000 for customers and this brings the selling price to RM97k!

Beautifully Smart
Step inside and you are greeted with a new dashboard that features a first-in-class digital instrument cluster. At the center of the dashboard, a large screen enables occupants to interact easily with the audio-video and navigation functions just like with all other BYD and Denza vehicles. The front seats are electric and very well bolstered for great driving comfort. The rear passengers get very good legroom and there is enough space for three 6 foot tall adults.
Luxury Car Features
This BYD sedan features a number of advanced comfort and convenience features typically found only in premium cars, including a tilt and slide sunroof (with internal cover), high-speed wireless smartphone charging pad with cooling fan, standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® and more, much more.

Driving
From ignition this BYD is very quiet, cabin insulation is great, on par with Japanese and Korean rival sedans. The 160kW motor accelerates smoothly and progressively and only when you really push the throttle with haste do you have the the powertrain working to deliver its 330Nm of mid-range pulling power and a 0-100km/h acceleration of 7.5 seconds.
With a light-foot and calm driving nature a possible 485km of driving range is possible. This means, a real world 425km of range is very possible.
Yes, the power delivery is progressively quick and linear with this rear wheel drive sedan and this is what family sedan drivers want. Not neck snapping sports car acceleration like in the BYD Seal sports sedan.
You get three driving modes where Eco mode is best when in heavy traffic, Comfort mode for highway cruising and Sport mode when you need to arrive.
Its wide and long size offers more value to buyers looking for that ‘big car’ feel when inside and also when arriving at a business destination.

Final Word
Just like its immediate rivals from Japan, this BYD Seal 6 competes in price with base local assembled German sedans that have moved down the value chain. Yes, the German brands with local assembled base specification cars have managed to bring their selling prices down to the same level as ‘Made In China’ high specification models and this allows some Malaysians to get behind the wheel of a ‘brand’ they aspired to own. Take a test drive back to back with a European rival on the same morning and decide for yourself.
