Mazda Unveils Rotary Revival and AI Mobility: Vision X-Coupe and X-Compact Concepts Redefine the ‘Joy of Driving’.
Mazda Motor Corporation showcased its ambitious vision for 2035 at the Japan Mobility Show, debuting the stunning Vision X-Coupe and the intelligent Vision X-Compact under the theme, “The Joy of Driving Fuels a Sustainable Tomorrow.”

Mazda’s latest concepts represent a radical evolution of its “Kodo—Soul of Motion” design language and its unwavering commitment to the driver. President and CEO Masahiro Moro emphasized that the company believes the joy of driving can be a force for positive change, fulfilling the desire of car enthusiasts to continue driving in a carbon-neutral world.

Vision X-Coupe: Rotary Turbo Hybrid Reborn
The sleek Mazda Vision X-Coupe is a sports coupe that pushes the boundaries of performance and sustainability:
- PHEV Drivetrain: It is powered by a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) system integrating a two-rotor rotary turbo engine with a motor and battery.

- Performance: The system delivers an impressive output of 510PS
- Range: The vehicle offers a substantial 160km driving range in motor-only mode, extending to 800km when operating in combination with the rotary engine.

- Carbon-Neutral Driving: Mazda introduced a proprietary carbon-capture concept for the X-Coupe: by running on carbon-neutral fuel derived from microalgae, combined with “Mazda Mobile Carbon Capture” technology, the vehicle contributes to reducing atmospheric CO2 the more it is driven.

Given its generous length of 5,050mm and athletic grand tourer stance, the Vision X-Coupe is strongly hinted to be a crossover-style successor to the Mazda 6 sedan, transforming the former family sedan into an emotionally charged, high-performance hybrid coupe.

Vision X-Compact: Empathetic AI for Urban Mobility
The smaller Mazda Vision X-Compact explores the human-centric future of mobility:
- Empathetic AI: The model features the fusion of a human sensory digital model and empathetic Artificial Intelligence (AI). Acting like a close companion, the AI is capable of engaging in natural conversation and suggesting destinations, deepening the emotional connection between the driver and the car.

- Dimensions: Measuring only 3,825mm in length with a 2,515mm wheelbase, the X-Compact’s compact, crossover-like proportions strongly suggest it could be the next-generation replacement for Mazda’s popular small SUV, the Mazda CX-3, or possibly the Mazda 2. The design emphasizes agility and modern urban versatility.

Mazda will continue to evolve the “Joy of Driving” based on the value of “Radically Human,” ensuring exciting mobility experiences in customers’ daily lives.
