Very often you see a Perodua MYVI pulling stunts like this but not this time
Looks like the Mini Countryman driver (not a MYVI) pressed her accelerator pedal too hard at the junction and the result is 6 damaged vehicles and lucky there were no serious injuries or fatalities reported.
Meanwhile, Johor Bahru South officer in charge of a police district assistant commander Raub Selamat said the incident was believed to have happened on Oct 16 when the 49-year-old insurance agent was heading from Jalan Pingai towards Jalan Kuning in Taman Pelangi.
A total of six vehicles were damaged in this mishap, with one landing on top of a parked vehicle. There was also minor damage to a shop’s signage in the incident that happened at 9.14am.
“The Mini Countryman, driven by a 49-year-old woman, had earlier failed to slow down at an intersection and the driver had inadvertently stepped on the accelerator instead. “This caused the car to accelerate and crashed into the five parked cars,” he said in a statement yesterday.

This case is being investigated under the Road Transport Regulations 10 (1) LN 166/59.
In case you were wondering, sometime in March 2011 BMW Malaysia launched a 4 door Mini with ‘SUV’ like styling and it was called the Countryman. Priced new from RM248k it sat higher than the regular 2 door Mini and it looked more like an oversized hatchback on steroids.
It’s raised ground clearance and SUV-style design elements might have made it look a little overweight but it was an instant sales hit with single women and even families looking for a fun premium vehicle with loads of character.
Visually there is no mistaking the Mini Countryman as a product of Mini. The exterior is filled with typical Mini detailing and the large 17-inch alloy wheels (on the Cooper S variant) fills into the large fenders with ease. There rear doors open wide and seating position is high in the rear. Luggage room is decent but lacking if you take a family holiday with the rear seats in use.
