Nissan Teana Returns Alongside N6 PHEV In China

Dongfeng Nissan has unveiled two new intelligent sedans for the Chinese market—the N6 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) and the refreshed Nissan Teana.

The Nissan Teana may have been discontinued in Malaysia, but it soldiers on in China with help from Dongfeng, Nissan’s primary Chinese market partner. Dongfeng Nissan debuted the ICE-powered Teana sedan alongside the ‘N6’, which is Nissan’s first PHEV sedan, based on similar tech found on the Nissan N7 EV. China continues to have a healthy appetite for sedans and Nissan is banking on this market to claw back some much needed sales.

The N6: Nissan’s First Plug-in Hybrid Sedan

Key technical specifications and design features of the N6 include:

  • Powertrain: The PHEV system features a 1.5L gasoline engine paired with a dedicated electric motor.
  • Battery: It is equipped with a 21.1kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, a size touted to be among the largest in its segment in China.
  • Dimensions: The sedan measures 4,831mm in length, 1,885mm in width, and 1,491mm in height, boasting a long 2,815mm wheelbase.
  • Design: The exterior showcases Nissan’s V-Motion signature grille, expressive LED lighting at the front and rear, and sleek, organic lines that give the vehicle a dynamic presence.

The spacious cabin of the N6 is designed to meet the Chinese family’s demand for reliability, intelligence, and comfort.

New Teana: The Huawei Technology Breakthrough

The new Nissan Teana maintains the premium comfort and sophistication of its nameplate but adds updated design and advanced intelligent connectivity.

Most notably, the new Teana will be the first internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle in China equipped with Huawei’s HarmonySpace5.0 smart cockpit. The integration of the HarmonySpace5.0 system and a new Huawei ‘SOUND’ audio system is set to usher in a new era of comprehensive, intelligent comfort for the sedan. The exterior features sharp, elegant lines that convey a premium and sophisticated aesthetic.

Nissan’s Market Strategy in China

Nissan’s global product strategy remains centered on offering customers a diverse range of powertrain options, including advanced internal combustion engines, hybrids, and electric vehicles. The dual introduction of the N6 PHEV and the high-tech Teana ICE model underscores this commitment to delivering the right technology for the market at the right time. The strong cooperation with Dongfeng is enabling Nissan to accelerate innovation and expand its NEV portfolio, positioning China as a key pillar in Nissan’s global strategy.
