Hyundai To Provide For Singapore Government Fleet

Hyundai Motor Group announced on 2nd November, 2025 that it has partnered with the Government of Singapore to support the electrification of public vehicle fleets.

The company signed a memorandum of understanding on technology cooperation with the Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX), a research agency under the Ministry of Home Affairs, on 31st October, 2025 on the side-lines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province.

Attendees at the signing ceremony included Sung Kim, President of Hyundai Motor Company; Park Hyun-sung, CEO of Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center in Singapore; Kim Il-bum, Executive Vice President of the Global Policy Office at Hyundai Motor Group; Chan Tsan, CEO of HTX; and Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State at the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs.

Under the agreement, Hyundai Motor and HTX plan to conduct a technology demonstration project through 2028, aimed at improving the operational efficiency of the Government of Singapore’s vehicle fleet.

It will be the first initiative of this type. The project will use the company’s multipurpose modular electrification platform, a standardised and flexible electric vehicle architecture with key components integrated into a scalable base suitable for various vehicle types.

According to Hyundai Motor, the Ministry of Home Affairs currently imports and modifies different vehicle models for specific purposes, resulting in fragmented platforms and restricted design flexibility.

Referencing Kia’s purpose-built vehicle, which is based on the multipurpose modular platform, Hyundai Motor plans to provide a solution intended to support the ministry’s integrated fleet management and multipurpose mobility operations.

Hyundai Motor stated that the project is expected to align with Singapore’s electric vehicle transition policy and support the development of associated infrastructure.

Hyundai Motor will provide technical support for vehicle development and supply fleet vehicles in collaboration with the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center in Singapore and HTX.

“We aim to apply our technologies in collaboration with the Government of Singapore to support public-sector mobility,” stated Kim Il-bum. “We intend to continue work on technologies such as robotics and hydrogen.”

Since establishing HMGICS, the group’s manufacturing facility for testing production platforms, in the Jurong Innovation District in 2023, Hyundai Motor has formed partnerships with local universities, government research institutes, and global partners in connection with research into mobility-related developments.
