Honda CR-V e:HEV is set to be the company’s first hybrid model to be assembled in Vietnam.
Prior to the recent Japan Mobility Show 2025, information began circulating that the CR-V e:HEV would shift to domestic assembly. This has since been confirmed by Honda Vietnam (HVN).
In case you were wondering this new CR-V in Malaysia currently retails from RM159,900 for the 1.5 S 2WD trim. The two other variants available meanwhile with this Honda SUV are the 1.5L E 2WD and 1.5 V AWD, which are priced at RM169,900 and RM181,900 respectively.
The Japanese manufacturer will assemble the CR-V e:HEV at its Phu Tho factory from early 2026. A company representative stated that all CR-V variants will be assembled on the same production line as the HR-V.
Dealers previously reported that the number of Honda CR-V e:HEV RS units imported from Thailand was limited, and indicated that the first batch may arrive after the Lunar New Year of Binh Ngo 2026. HVN has not yet disclosed whether the retail price will change.
According to Mr. Yusuke Kondo, Sales Director of the Honda Vietnam Automobile Division, new fuel consumption standards will take effect in Vietnam in 2027. HVN introduced hybrid models to meet these regulations and intends to increase domestic production of the CR-V hybrid.
Kondo also stated that future sales of the Honda CR-V hybrid are expected to align with petrol-only variants. At present, the CR-V G, CR-V L, and CR-V L AWD variants are assembled at Honda Vietnam’s factory previously located in Vinh Phuc Province, now Phu Tho Province.
HVN confirmed that the Honda CR-V e:HEV RS Black Edition, showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, will not be introduced to the Vietnamese market. However, the company noted that the decision may be reviewed depending on customer feedback.
The CR-V e:HEV RS became Honda’s first hybrid model in Vietnam when it was launched in October 2023. It is equipped with a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 148 PS and 183 Nm, paired with two electric motors generating 184 PS. The system provides a combined output of 207 PS and 335 Nm, with an e-CVT transmission and front-wheel-drive configuration.
In terms of sales, 1,558 units were delivered from the beginning of the year to the end of September 2025, placing the model fourth in the national hybrid vehicle segment. At the Car Choice Awards 2025, held in early October, the CR-V e:HEV RS received the Hybrid Car of the Year award.
