Mercedes-Benz S-Class W223 Facelift Arrives

Mercedes-Benz S-Class facelift has been revealed with thousands of changes.

In celebration of the 140th anniversary of Carl Benz’s 1886 invention of the automobile, Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the new S-Class, an icon meticulously refined in every detail to remain the benchmark of luxury. Marking the most extensive generation update in its history, more than 50 per cent of the vehicle—approximately 2,700 components—has been newly developed or re-engineered.

Striking Presence and Status

The new S-Class introduces a bolder silhouette defined by a 20 per cent larger illuminated grille and, for the first time, an optional illuminated Mercedes star on the bonnet.

Its unmistakable light signature is further defined by next-generation DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps featuring twin-star designs and innovative micro-LED technology, which delivers a high-resolution illumination field roughly 40 per cent larger than its predecessor.

Intelligence Powered by MB.OS

At its core, the S-Class is powered by the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), a purpose-built supercomputer that connects all systems into one intelligent ecosystem.

  • MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO: Utilizing ten external cameras, five radar sensors, and twelve ultrasonic sensors, this system enables seamless point-to-point driving in dense urban traffic.
  • Fourth-Generation MBUX: The standard MBUX Superscreen integrates a 14.4-inch central display and a 12.3-inch passenger display under a continuous glass surface.
  • MBUX Virtual Assistant: A generative AI-powered “Hey Mercedes” assistant provides natural, human-like dialogue and appearing as a living avatar on the interface.

A First-Class “Boardroom on Wheels”

The interior transcends traditional automotive standards, transforming into a “Boardroom on Wheels” or a serene personal retreat.

  • Rear Excellence: The First-Class rear compartment includes dual 13.1-inch high-end displays, detachable remote controls, and integrated HD cameras for video conferencing via Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
  • Enhanced Comfort: New features include a heated seat belt (warming up to 44°C), Digital Vent Control, and an electric air filter that purifies cabin air every 90 seconds.
  • Personalization: The MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure program offers over 150 exterior and 400 interior colors for ultimate individuality.

Sublime Performance and Agility

The S-Class offers a refined range of electrified powertrains, including V8 and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, alongside a plug-in hybrid with an electric range of approximately 100 km.

  • Smooth Handling: The AIRMATIC air suspension and optional E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL now feature intelligent damping that proactively adjusts for long speed bumps using cloud-based data.
  • Agility: Rear-axle steering is now standard with a 4.5° angle, with an optional 10° configuration that reduces the turning circle by almost two meters.

Safety Leadership

Safety remains a hallmark, with up to 15 airbags and an enhanced adaptive restraint system. Innovations such as the beltbag for rear passengers and PRE-SAFE® Impulse Side, which optimizes occupant positioning before a side impact, continue Mercedes-Benz’s legacy of safety leadership.
