Tesla Robotaxi Has Already Has 5 Crashes In America

Tesla has reported five new crashes involving its “Robotaxi” fleet in Austin, Texas, bringing the total number of incidents to 14 since the service launched in June 2025, according to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The latest crashes, which occurred in December 2025 and January 2026, all involved Model Y vehicles with the autonomous system confirmed to be engaged during the incidents.

Additionally, Tesla updated its July 2025 crash report, revealing that one of the incidents involved a hospitalization injury, which was not previously disclosed.

Based on the reported mileage, the Robotaxi fleet experiences a crash about once every 57,000 miles, which is roughly four times the crash rate of human drivers.

The increasing number of incidents adds to the growing scrutiny over Tesla’s crash reporting practices and raises concerns about the safety performance of its supervised Robotaxi service.
