Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Manthey Kit now holds the record of 6:55:533 Nürburgring Record
Porsche has once again redefined electric performance, announcing a new Nürburgring-Nordschleife record for production electric vehicles with the Taycan Turbo GT equipped with the new Manthey Kit. For the first time, Porsche has introduced a circuit-specific Manthey kit for an electric sports car, elevating the already formidable Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package to an unprecedented level of track performance.
The record-setting run saw Porsche development driver Lars Kern pilot the electric GT sports car around the 20.832 km Nordschleife circuit in an astonishing 6:55.533 minutes. This monumental lap time not only solidified the Taycan’s standing by breaking the previous record in the ‘electric executive cars’ class by over nine seconds but also eclipsed Kern’s own best time in the standard Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package by 12 seconds. Kevin Giek, Head of the Taycan model line, noted that the small but impactful project team successfully transferred the “Manthey DNA” into a kit for electric vehicles, culminating in this impressive Nordschleife achievement.
The Manthey Kit provides a comprehensive upgrade focused on maximizing circuit performance. At the core of the transformation is an extensive aerodynamic package that increases downforce by more than three times compared to the standard car. Key components include a new rear wing with enlarged end plates, an optimized front diffuser, and carbon aerodiscs on the rear wheels, which collectively increase total downforce to 310 kilograms at 200 km/h. This significant enhancement in downforce, which reaches approximately 740 kg at top speed, allows for higher cornering speeds and superior stability.
Beyond aerodynamics, the kit features critical modifications to the powertrain and chassis. Optimizations to the high-voltage battery and control units increase the system output by 20 kW, bringing the car’s power to 600 kW. Crucially, the ten-second power boost known as Attack Mode now delivers an additional 130 kW, increasing temporary output to 730 kW. The package also includes newly developed, lighter 21-inch ‘Manthey’ design forged aluminum wheels, which are fitted with special road-legal track tyres (Pirelli P ZERO Trofeo RS).
Agility and steering precision are significantly improved by a specially developed driving dynamics setup for Porsche Active Ride, front- and rear-axle steering, and all-wheel drive. Furthermore, a new braking system featuring larger discs and performance brake pads ensures even greater deceleration rates. Summing up the impact of the Manthey Kit, Lars Kern stated: “The Manthey Kit turns the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package into the ultimate track tool.”
