Proton X70 Driver Hits And Kills Motorcyclist In PJ Section 17

Another fatal accident involving a motorcycle happened yesterday in Petaling Jaya (May 5th 2026), when a Proton X70 driven by a man in his 70s went head on with a motorcycle in the heart of Section 17 (just before the main traffic light junction), resulting in the death of the motorcyclist.

The fatal accident happened along Jalan 17/21, Petaling Jaya, Selangor at approximately 1:45 PM on Tuesday, May 5th 2026 which was during the busy lunch hour traffic.

The grey Proton X70 SUV hit the motorcycle after swearing erratically from extreme left to extreme right into the path of the on coming motorcyclist who has been identified as a man in his 20s who sadly passed away at the scene due to severe injuries. (the viral dashcam video shows the biker being flung into the air on impact and landing at the gate of a house along the street.

The driver of the Proton X70 which is a a man in his 70s, was uninjured and immediately brought to the police station for investigation and the preliminary urine and alcohol screening tests on the driver returned negative results. Yes…… the driver was tested for alcohol and drugs and was confirmed NEGATIVE.

So, now the incident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. 

Meanwhile, the Petaling Jaya police have requested witnesses to come forward, specifically asking them to contact the investigating officer, Mohd Sivam @ Siva Muniandy, at 03-7966 2222 to share any information to better explain what happened.

Right now there could be a few reasons for this accident, speculation on social media says a brake failure, but the X70 speed on the viral video point to a accelerator pedal that might have been stuck.
