Range Rover has officially entered the era of pure-electric propulsion with the global debut of the first-ever Range Rover Electric. Built at the brand’s historic home in Solihull—where the model line has been produced since the 1970s—the zero-emissions flagship represents the quietest, quickest-responding, and most torque-rich execution of the luxury SUV to date.

Twin 260kW Motors: 550 PS and Microsecond Traction Management

The electric powertrain combines sports-car performance with effortless towing and off-road crawl capabilities:

  • Power & Torque: Powered by twin permanent magnet 260kW electric drive units fitted with advanced silicon carbide semiconductors, delivering a combined output of up to 550 PS and 850 Nm of torque. The motors produce 20% more torque than conventional motors of comparable packaging volume.
  • Rapid Acceleration: The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 4.5 seconds, with mid-range overtaking from 80 to 120 km/h completed in 2.7 seconds.
  • Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD): Constantly varies rear-axle torque distribution between 100% and 0% to preempt loss of grip.
  • Integrated Traction Management (ITM): Modulates motor speed within 50 milliseconds, reacting to wheel slip up to 100 times quicker than a conventional combustion engine setup.
  • Single Pedal Off-Road Capability: Works in tandem with ITM to smoothly execute unassisted pullaways on slopes as steep as 33 degrees (equivalent to a black-diamond ski slope) and sustain rolling climbs on gradients up to 45 degrees.

  • 350kW DC Rapid Charging: Supported by native 800-volt split-charging electrical architecture, the battery charges from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes, adding 220 km of WLTP range in just 10 minutes at peak charge rates.
  • ThermAssist Heat Management: An advanced thermal regulation system reduces cabin heating energy consumption by 40% while adding up to 40 km of winter driving range. The technology forms part of over 300 patent applications filed during vehicle development.
  • Battery Protection & Warranty: Backed by a Battery Digital Twin tracking over 900 telemetry points alongside an 8-year or 160,000 km manufacturer warranty.

Extensive Global Testing and Smart Ecosystem

The Range Rover Electric underwent more than 1.5 million physical kilometres and 250,000 hours of testing, verified in extreme sub-zero conditions (-40°C) in Arjeplog, Sweden, scorching desert heat in Dubai, and the off-road testing tracks of Eastnor Castle in the UK.

JLR has upskilled 9,000 manufacturing staff at its Solihull assembly plant, supported by its Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton. Wolverhampton now functions as the UK’s largest combined ICE and EV powertrain facility, boasting 13 dedicated automated assembly lines, AI-driven optical scanning checks, and individual pre-assembly cell testing.
