Maserati and Huawei reportedly planning two new EVs which is a GT and a SUV
Hey, just in, industry sources revealed that Maserati has finalized plans for two new electric vehicle models developed in collaboration with Huawei which is a mid-to-large-size all-electric SUV and a large all-electric GT.
On paper, a partnership with Huawei and JAC sounds painful for a brand built on Italian performance heritage. In reality, it might be exactly the kind of shortcut Maserati needs.
Meanwhile, Maserati’s parent, Stellantis have been quietly holding discussions with several Chinese automakers and investors about potential partnerships in Europe. One name repeatedly mentioned in those conversations is Maserati. Earlier, Stellantis had met with representatives from Chinese auto brand Xiaomi and XPeng.

At that stage, no formal agreement had been confirmed. Stellantis had responded cautiously, stating only that discussions with industry partners are a normal part of operating as a global automotive group.
For any Chinese automaker, a partnership with Stellantis could represent a shortcut into the European market. Companies such as Xiaomi and XPeng already possess strong expertise in software integration, digital ecosystems, and EV platforms.
Access to Stellantis’ European factories would allow them to accelerate expansion while potentially avoiding trade barriers associated with importing vehicles from China. The Trident brand, long seen as an icon of Italian automotive craftsmanship, could become partially backed by Chinese capital.
Maserati still has that high emotional acceptance but its high prices and low retention is pushing it into retirement.
Reality and fact in 2026, European automotive brands are under pressure from every side. They are plagued with high costs, slower EV demand in some markets, rising Chinese competition, software issues and increasingly complex regulation. For a low-volume brand like Maserati, developing EV technology independently may simply no longer be realistic and ignoring China could be early retirement.
Good luck Maserati and we hope it all works out well as this will surely boost sales for the NEW Maserati brand guardian in Malaysia.
The official NEW Maserati showroom is located at RS-G-02, Rhapsody Square, TREC, 50400 Kuala Lumpur.
