Proton e.MAS Sets Historic Milestone: Over 6,000 Electric Vehicles Delivered in August 2026

Proton e.MAS has shattered Malaysian electric vehicle sales records, delivering 6,047 vehicles globally in August 2026.

The landmark performance represents the brand’s highest-ever monthly volume since its inception. Achieved just 20 months after the market introduction of the Proton e.MAS 7 in December 2024, the result cements Proton e.MAS as the fastest xEV brand in Malaysia to cross the 6,000-unit monthly delivery threshold.

Domestic registrations accounted for 5,999 units, reinforcing the national marque’s position as Malaysia’s undisputed number-one electric vehicle brand. The surge underscores rapidly accelerating consumer acceptance of electrified mobility nationwide, with an average of one Proton e.MAS vehicle registered every seven minutes throughout August.

Proton e.MAS 5 Leads the Surge Across Core States

The record-breaking month was anchored by the immense popularity of the newly introduced Proton e.MAS 5, which served as the primary volume catalyst:

  • e.MAS 5 Performance: Delivered 4,770 units, representing nearly 80 percent of all domestic registrations for the brand in August.
  • e.MAS 7 Lineup: Maintained resilient demand alongside the compact entry, with the all-electric e.MAS 7 recording 613 domestic deliveries and the e.MAS 7 PHEV contributing another 616 registrations.
  • Geographic Concentration: Adoption broadened significantly across urban corridors. Selangor led domestic volume at 51 percent, followed by strong uptake in Johor and Penang. Together, these three states generated 71 percent of total domestic deliveries, complemented by steady volume growth across East Malaysia.

Beyond the domestic market, export operations gathered momentum. During the first eight months of 2026, Proton e.MAS registered 27,402 vehicles domestically and exported 453 units to international markets including Nepal, Trinidad & Tobago, Singapore, and Mauritius, bringing cumulative year-to-date deliveries to 27,855 vehicles.

Rapidly Scaling Dealership, Charging, and High-Rise Network

Backing this sales momentum is the aggressive physical expansion of the Proton e.MAS retail and aftersales footprint managed by PRO-NET:

  • Retail & Service Network: The network now encompasses 60 dealerships, 46 dedicated service centres, and 10 body and paint facilities nationwide—a substantial leap from the 36 dealerships and 29 service centres operating in August 2025.
  • Charging Infrastructure: PRO-NET has deployed 103 DC fast chargers at strategic dealerships across the country.
  • Integrated Live Charging Map: Built directly into vehicle infotainment units and the companion e.MAS mobile app, the platform provides seamless access to more than 4,700 public charging bays nationwide, including over 1,500 charging points installed across 600 high-rise residential properties to address home charging for condominium dwellers.

To ensure long-term aftersales quality as its vehicle fleet expands, PRO-NET is channeling resources into domestic talent development.

The company has launched its inaugural Aftersales Skills Competition in partnership with TVETMARA. The initiative provides Malaysian technical personnel and vocational apprentices with structured training to refine high-voltage diagnostics and EV servicing capabilities, establishing an industry-standard talent pipeline to support the nation’s growing electrified automotive ecosystem.
