Honda Motor Co., Ltd. presented the world premiere of the Honda 0 α next-generation EV prototype at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, positioning the SUV as the accessible “gateway model” to its revolutionary upcoming Honda 0 Series.
The Honda 0 α is being developed as a versatile SUV designed to blend seamlessly with both urban and natural environments, supporting people’s lives in every situation. Following the Honda 0 Saloon (flagship) and the Honda 0 SUV, which were introduced at CES 2025 earlier this year, the 0 α joins the lineup as the entry point to the new EV era for the brand.

The production model of the Honda 0 α is scheduled to go on sale globally, mainly in Japan and India, starting in 2027.

The ‘Thin, Light, and Wise’ Philosophy
The prototype embodies the Honda 0 Series development approach, “Thin, Light, and Wise”. This philosophy aims to challenge the conventional image of EVs as being “thick and heavy” by achieving vehicles defined by agility, efficiency, and intelligence.

- Thin: This packaging design allows for a low vehicle height without compromising ground clearance. This “Thin” approach enables a low-slung, original SUV proportion while creating a thin cabin that still offers a spacious and comfortable interior for occupants.
- Light: This focuses on achieving world-class electricity efficiency and sporty driving performance through lightweight engineering.
- Wise: This involves integrating intelligent, software-defined mobility using advanced AI and connectivity to create vehicles that adapt to the user’s needs, making driving safer and smarter.

Exterior Design: Sleek Sophistication
The exterior design of the Honda 0 α features a sleek and sophisticated body design unique to the Honda 0 Series. Its wide stance expresses stability and dynamic SUV characteristics.

The design introduces innovative screen areas at both the front and rear of the vehicle:
- Front End: Components that are conventionally separated—such as the headlights, the charging lid, and the illuminated emblem—are seamlessly integrated into a single digital front screen area.
- Rear End: The design features a distinctive U-shaped lighting signature that unifies the tail lamps, backup lamps, and turn signal lamps, accentuating the contour of the rear screen area.

The visual result is a design that is both visually and functionally refined, supporting Honda’s vision for a minimalist, high-tech EV future.
