Auto ConneXion-Ford Drives Impact: Malaysian Chapter of ‘Ford Building Together’ Reaches 600 Beneficiaries

Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford gives back to the underprivileged communities.

Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford (Auto ConneXion-Ford) has successfully concluded the Malaysian chapter of the global corporate social responsibility initiative, ‘Ford Building Together’. Driven by the 122-year-old Ford belief that a stronger future is built together, the 11-day campaign positively impacted 600 Malaysian beneficiaries from underserved communities.

Focus on Community Empowerment

The ‘Ford Building Together’ initiative reflects Ford’s commitment to empowering communities worldwide and driving positive change, going beyond the mission of building high-quality vehicles. The global initiative focuses on two key areas: Building and Rebuilding Communities. This involves supporting non-profits and programming centered around community development, education, food security, and disaster relief and recovery.

This local effort was a key part of Ford’s annual Global Caring Month, a worldwide volunteer program under Ford Philanthropy. It also contributed to the World’s Largest Auto Dealer Food Drive, which saw over 1,600 Ford dealers across 31 countries collect more than 2 million pounds (over 907,000 kg) of food.

Local Aid and Strategic Partnerships

Auto ConneXion-Ford, the sole distributor of Ford vehicles in Malaysia, mobilized 55 Ford volunteers to provide crucial food aid and basic healthcare services.

Areas and Beneficiaries Supported:

Auto ConneXion-Ford selected a diverse cross-section of vulnerable groups, including B40 families, persons with disabilities (OKU), single mothers, Asnaf Fakir and Miskin, and the Orang Asli.

Healthcare Services via Mobile Clinic

A cornerstone of the local campaign was the deployment of the Ford Mobile Clinic. This collaborative effort, involving Auto ConneXion-Ford, Yayasan Sime Darby, Ford Philanthropy, and MyFundAction, mobilized healthcare professionals to all four locations to provide essential healthcare services in rural areas.

Turse Zuhair Nahason Affan, Managing Director of Auto ConneXion-Ford, stated that the program aligned with the global initiative by bringing the “full power of Ford” to Malaysia, combining the passion of employees and the strength of the dealer network to address local community needs. The successful initiative reflects the dedication of passionate volunteers and the strategic partnership with non-profit MyFundAction, which was instrumental in planning the on-ground execution. This recent effort builds upon Auto ConneXion-Ford’s established legacy of community support in Malaysia, including past projects like the Clean Water Project in Gerik and Operation Better World in Kuala Lumpur.
