Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV Open For Booking: 1,100km Range, Priced from RM110k

The first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle from a national brand, the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV, is now open for booking.

The wait for Proton’s first-ever Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) is officially over. PRO-NET has announced that order books for the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV are now open, with an attractive estimated price range of RM110,000 to RM130,000.

Dubbed a “Dual-Powered EV,” this new SUV aims to solve range anxiety once and for all. To prove it, the carmaker completed a grueling 25-hour livestream drive, covering over 1,100 km from Penang to Johor Bahru on a single tank of fuel and a full battery charge.

“Dual-Powered” Performance

Unlike traditional hybrids, the e.MAS 7 PHEV is marketed as an electric-first vehicle. It features an 11-in-1 Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) system paired with a Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP) battery.

The system is smart enough to switch between modes automatically:

  • EV Mode: For daily city commuting, offering zero emissions and quiet operation.
  • Series-Hybrid Mode: The petrol engine acts as a generator to power the electric motor, which drives the wheels.
  • Engine Drive Mode: On highways or steep climbs, a clutch engages to allow the engine to drive the wheels directly for maximum efficiency.

This “dual-powered” approach allows Malaysians to enjoy the torque and silence of an EV for daily driving without losing the freedom to travel interstate on long weekends.

The 1,100km Challenge

To validate the technology, Proton conducted a non-stop 25-hour drive from Penang to Johor Bahru, ending at the PROTON Centre of Excellence (COE) in Shah Alam.

The test unit completed the entire 1,100 km journey without needing to refuel or recharge, demonstrating real-world efficiency that rivals or exceeds many diesel competitors.

Early Bird Deal: Book for Just RM99

For early adopters, PRO-NET is offering a special “Early Bird” privilege. The first 5,000 customers to place a booking will receive a RM500 rebate on their booking fee.

  • Booking Fee: RM99
  • Estimated Price: RM110,000 – RM130,000

With a starting price hovering around the RM110k mark, the e.MAS 7 PHEV is positioned aggressively against established rivals like the Honda HR-V e:HEV and Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, offering a larger body and plug-in capability for a similar price.

Bookings can be made now via the official Proton e.MAS website or at authorised dealerships nationwide.
