Volvo ES90 is the second electric vehicle to be locally assembled in Malaysia this year
Officially launched in Malaysia on January 22, 2026, the ES90 is the brand’s first fully electric flagship sedan. It is produced as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) model at Volvo’s assembly plant in Shah Alam.
Production Facility: Assembled at the Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia (VCMM) plant in Shah Alam, which is the oldest automobile assembly plant in Malaysia.
Tax Benefits: Because it is locally assembled as a CKD electric vehicle, it qualifies for tax-free incentives, helping keep its pricing competitive.
Launch Price: The ES90 was priced at just RM339,888.













Initial Variant: In Malaysia, it is currently offered in the Ultra Single Motor Extended Range variant with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) drivetrain that delivers 245 kW (333 hp) and 480 Nm of torque. Built on the SPA2 platform with 800V architecture, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h time in just 6.6 seconds with a possible a 651km WLTP driving range, and supports DC charging from 10-80% in 22 minutes.

This Volvo ES90 features a Scandinavian-designed cabin focused on minimalist luxury, sustainability, and advanced technology. Key amenities include a Qualcomm Snapdragon Cockpit Platform working to power a 14.5-inch portrait touchscreen and a 9-inch driver display. The system comes with Google built-in, providing native access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play Store. It also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There is a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system with Dolby Atmos, and an electrochromic roof. It offers 424 liters of boot space and premium, sustainable materials.
