Fined Just RM1,500 When Three People Were Killed: Is This Justice

What if it was your family member that was killed by the 17 year old who drove his mothers car without a license?

Would you be happy with this judgement where the 17-year-olds mother, a 41-year-old Nur Farahidayah A Rahman, was fined just RM1,500 by the Seremban Magistrates’ Court on March 6, 2026, for allowing her 17-year-old son to drive her car without a valid driving license?

Is the kind of punishment you give to a person when 3 people were killed? Is this a lesson to others to do the same and just get a fine of RM1,500 ONLY and life goes on?

So, what happend? Well, a 17-year-old teenager was driving his mother’s Honda Jazz when it was involved in a crash in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan, on March 6, 2025, which resulted in three (3) fatalities.

The 17 year olds mother pleaded guilty to an amended charge under Section 39(5) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to allowing an unlicensed person to drive.

The court fined her RM1,500, or three months in jail if the fine is not paid. Her counsel requested a lenient sentence, noting she is a single mother supporting six children.  The case against her son regarding the accident is ongoing, with sentencing expected in May.

The Honda Jazz driven by the teenage boy allegedly ran a red light before colliding with two motorcycles.

Two victims, Muhammad Aidil Ramdan Abdullah, 15 and Muhammad Aswari Lotpi, 16 died at the scene. Another victim, Aisar Azim Abdullah, 17, died while receiving treatment at Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar on March 10 last year.
