Why Is This ‘News Portal’ Giving The MITI Minister A Hard Time

What this ‘news portal’ is saying seems harsh or not and why are they saying the MITI Minister is a mega millionaire or Billionaire?

We wonder if the statement in this ‘news portal’ can be taken seriously or not? Meanwhile, it looks like MITI and BYD will be having a meeting to sort out pending issues.

In case you are wondering, BYD was granted an interim manufacturing license on September 29, 2025, for the assembly of passenger EEVs, including electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).

At the time, Minister Tengku Zafrul and other officials emphasised that these rules are non-discriminatory and apply to all new automotive investments in Malaysia, including other Chinese brands like Chery. The Malaysian Automotive Component Parts Manufacturers Association (MACPMA) has backed MITI, viewing these policies as developmental rather than protectionist.

These conditions aim to protect national players while ensuring Malaysia becomes a regional export hub for energy-efficient vehicles (EEVs).
