Stellantis has announced a voluntary recall of approximately 44,000 vehicles in the UK following the identification of a mechanical fault.
The recall impacts a wide array of models produced between 2023 and 2026 across the Stellantis portfolio, specifically select vehicles from Peugeot, Citroën, DS Automobiles, Vauxhall, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, and Fiat. Key models highlighted in the safety notice include popular choices such as the Citroën C3, Peugeot 208, and Vauxhall Mokka.

Technical Cause of the Recall
The safety concern stems from a lack of clearance between the gasoline particulate filter (GPF) pipe and the pole protection cup of the vehicle’s 48-volt belt starter generator (BSG). According to Stellantis, “wet conditions” could cause contact between these two components, potentially allowing water to enter the engine bay.
In what the manufacturer describes as a “worst-case scenario,” this contact and subsequent water ingress could lead to a risk of fire within the engine department. Stellantis has emphasized that the recall is a proactive measure to ensure customer safety and satisfaction remain at the core of its brand values.

Corrective Actions for Owners
The repair process is straightforward and focuses on two primary actions:
- Insulation Upgrade: Replacing the existing pole protection cup of the 48V belt starter generator with a new version featuring higher insulation properties.
- Clearance Adjustment: Technicians will inspect the distance between the gasoline particulate filter pipe and the BSG, making adjustments where necessary to ensure adequate clearance.
The entire service is expected to take approximately 30 minutes and will be performed free of charge.
Given the recall only effects 48V mild hybrid models launched after 2023, it will not affect Malaysian owners. That being said, if you imported one with a student AP or bought one through a parallel importer, do check with your authorised dealer if your model is affected by the recall.
