Porsche 911 GT3 S/C Pairs Manual With High-Revving NA Engine

New Porsche 911 GT3 S/C: A Lightweight Cabriolet with a High-Revving Manual Heart

The Porsche GT family has unveiled a thrilling new member: the 911 GT3 S/C, an open-air sports car designed for maximum driving pleasure. This lightweight cabriolet combines the best ‘driver’s car’ qualities seen in the limited-edition 911 Speedster and 911 S/T models. For the first time, Porsche is offering a 911 GT3 with a fully automatic convertible roof, allowing fans to savor the unique, high-revving naturally aspirated sound of the boxer engine even without a fixed roof. Unlike the 2019 Speedster, the 911 GT3 S/C is not a limited-edition model.

Power and Pure Driving Experience

At the heart of the new Porsche 911 GT3 S/C is the naturally aspirated 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine, delivering 375 kW (510 PS) and 450 Nm of torque. Engineered to comply with the latest emissions standards, this engine maintains an emotionally engaging soundscape, which is significantly intensified when driving with the roof down.

Its cylinder heads have been revised, and more aggressive camshafts—carried over from the 911 GT3 RS—ensure responsive power delivery up to a thrilling 9,000 rpm redline. Performance is potent, with the car accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and achieving a top speed of 313 km/h. Critically, this model is available exclusively with a lightweight short-ratio six-speed manual transmission, emphasizing its focus as a pure two-seater driver’s car.

Commitment to Lightweight Design

To ensure characteristic GT model agility, the 911 GT3 S/C employs thorough lightweight construction, derived in large part from the 911 S/T. The overall vehicle weight is impressively low at 1,497 kilograms—only about 30 kg more than the 991-generation 911 Speedster. Key body components, including the bonnet, wings, and doors, are crafted from carbon fibre.

Even the chassis components follow suit, featuring carbon-fibre anti-roll bars and a shear plate. Braking is handled by the standard PCCB braking system, which is over 20 kg lighter than conventional cast iron brakes. Furthermore, the centre-lock wheels (20 inches front, 21 inches rear) are made of lightweight magnesium, saving around nine kilograms of rotating mass. A lightweight, compact lithium-ion battery saves about four kg compared to a conventional battery.

Innovative Roof and Street Style Package

The 911 GT3 S/C is the only open-top variant in the current 911 range designed as a pure two-seater. It features a fully automatic lightweight cabriolet top that utilizes magnesium ribs to achieve a coupé-like roofline when closed. This design offers aerodynamic advantages and preserves the characteristic 911 flyline. The soft top can be opened or closed in approximately 12 seconds, while stationary or at speeds up to 50 km/h. For a distinctive visual identity, the optional Street Style Package is available.

This package includes Pyro Red decorative graphics, slate grey Neo wheels, and an interior upholstered in two-tone leather (Slate Grey and Guards Red), featuring unique braided leather seat centre panels. Porsche is catering directly to customer demand for a focused sports car, proving that the emotive powertrain experience is even more emphatic when the roof is down on winding country roads.
