General “EV Sudden Acceleration” Is Not Uncommon Today
When electric vehicles are involved in accidents, discussions online often circle back to driver error or vehicle behavior. A common cause for newer EV drivers crashing into storefronts or restaurants is pedal mis-application especially when adjusting to “one-pedal driving” modes where drivers mistakenly hit hard on the accelerator instead of the brake in a panic.
This incident could have been worse if the pavement handrails were not there. It prevented the car from going into the restaurant and injuring patrons.

Recent Restaurant Car Crashes in Malaysia
If you saw local news about a vehicle crashing into a dining establishment, it may have been one of these recent incidents:
Perak (May 2025): An SUV veered off course at a traffic light intersection and crashed into a fast-food restaurant in Sitiawan, tragically killing one patron.
Subang Jaya (July 2025): A driver accidentally stepped on the accelerator while trying to park, sending a silver Proton X50 through the front glass panel of a restaurant.
Sabah (April 2026): A vehicle lost control after a parking lot shunt, mounting the curb and crashing into outdoor diners.
