This is how large funded media houses from China come into a market and KILL the competition
Let us explain. About 5 years ago a motoring website from China arrived in Malaysia with the same ‘sales’ format. The first email to introduce themselves to be ‘partners’ with you. Then they pretend to be your media partner by offering access to their client base and ‘helping’ you get business from their pool of clients (here they mention 200 Chinese automotive brands available in their database …. mostly bankrupt now). This below message is completely false.
Then they start calling in YOUR employees in for a job interview and offer them very high salaries in order to ‘bring your business down to a grinding halt’. Yes, by hiring as many of your well trained employees with higher salaries, your business suffers as you need time to hire and train new media staff. (here below some information about them)
They pay high salaries in the beginning (dangling the carrot in front of you) and offer great benefits and we do not stop any employees from leaving and joining them …….. this is an opportunity to earn more ……… but …… only for a short while.
Why? Well, the new Chinese funded media house CANNOT last without good management and high advertising income and this is why the previous ….. 5 years ago media house went bankrupt in just 12 months. Then many staff lost their jobs and found it difficult to get new jobs….. sad but true.
Meanwhile …. a few days after declaring bankrupt, that Chinese funded auto website was saved by another funded auto business and was left to run with minimum budget.
Today, 4 years later, in May 2026, we hear that even that media house is set to close its doors next month. Why? not run and managed professionally and funding has dried out.
So, the pattern continues with this latest website. We wait, watch and have some popcorn!
