New Version Of The Mini In Malaysia

The new MINI is now also available with new exterior colour schemes of Eclipse Grey, Spice Orange, White Silver and British Racing Green for the MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S. For the MINI John Cooper Works, Chilli Red is now available exclusively as a contrast colour for the roof and exterior mirror caps, and can be combined with the Pepper White, Pure Silver, Midnight Black, British Racing Green and Eclipse Grey paint finishers for the body. To further complement the effect, the standard fitted 17-inch light alloy wheels in Cross Spoke Challenge design are available in black.

As an option, customers can also obtain the Glass Roof package. The glass roof on the new MINI offers one touch operation and convenient opening through radio-remote control key. The package can be obtained for an additional RM 9, 988.

The interior of the MINI John Cooper Works is kitted out with black sports seats featuring contrasting red stitching and red piping or an option of black sports seats with white piping. The steering wheel rim, gearshift lever and handbrake lever gaiters also have contrasting red stitching with trim elements in Piano Black. Antracite-coloured dials are also fitted as standard on the MINI John Cooper Works.

The innovative character of the new MINI is expressed in the exciting range of new features which includes the automatic dimming exterior side mirrors and new ambient lighting covering an extremely broad spectrum of colours. The auto dipping, electrochromatic exterior mirrors increase driving safety and comfort at night by reducing the unpleasant dazzling of the mirrors as a resulf of reflected light from vehicles to the rear of the MINI, an occasional cause of dangerous driving situations. In addition, the exterior side mirrors can also be folded in for space optimisation as well.

In engines, cutting-edge drive system technology boasting exceptional variety headlines the range of petrol engines for the new MINI, which was introduced in July 2010. The 1.6-litre four-cylinder units also boast a host of technical features whose development is rooted in the oustanding wealth of engine expertise within the BMW Group.

All the petrol engines are equipped with fully variable valve management. This technology optimises the engine’s responses and at the same time significantly reduces fuel consumption and emmisions levels. In the MINI Cooper S, it join forces with the petrol direct injection and a twin-scroll turbocharger, making the engine the most efficient in its displacement class.

In terms of output, the MINI Cooper delivers 88kW/120 hp and 160 Nm of Torque , enabling the car to hit the 0 to 100 km/h mark in 10.4 seconds with an average fuel consumption of 6.7 litres per 100km and a CO2 emission rating of 156 grams per km.

Meanwhile, the MINI Cooper S is further fitted with petrol direct injection and a twin-scroll turbocharger capable of generating 135 kW/184 hp and 240 Nm of Torque with an overboost of 260 Nm at high speeds, giving the car the most efficient engine in its displacement class. With these features the MINI Cooper S delivers acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds while managing an average fuel consumption of just 6.7 litres per 100km and a CO2 emission rating of 155 grams per km.

The top of the range MINI Cooper John Cooper Works now churns out 155kW/ 211hp with 260 Nm of Torque and an additional 280 Nm overboost at high speeds to make the 0 to 100KM dash in 6.5 seconds, whilst only consuming 7.1 litres per 100KM of fuel and emiting only 165g per KM of CO2.

True to its trend setting nature, the new MINI introduced to the world and now to the Malaysian market, the key innovative feature of MINI Connected as an optional package. The MINI Connected package is a suite of technology features that opens the door to a globally unique form of in-car entertainment, utilising technology specifically developed to integrate the telecommunications, entertainment and online functions of an iPhone into the MINI.

MINI-specific functions are integrated using a MINI Connected Application (App) operated using a central joystick, steering wheel buttons and an on-board monitor. Using the familiar MINI display and operating logic, MINI Connected allows all functions to be used comfortably, simply, safely and intuitively with minimal distraction from the road ahead. The iPhone can be hooked up to the car either via cable supplied with MINI Connected for the USB socket or via a snap-in adapter.

New functions of MINI Connected introduced include the world’s first web radio function to allow users to pick up their preferred radio stations from around the world regardless of their locations. The station database available through the application contains thousands of radio stations whose programmes can be accessed online.

Another first in the suite of MINI Connected Technologies include the reception of user-definable RSS news feeds, the content of which is displayed on the on-board monitor and can be read out using an optional voice output function which also works in conjunction with applications such as Twitter. For the MINI owner, the functional repertoire of MINI Connected can be extended easily simply by downloading applications. This in turn allows MINI Connected users to continue to benefit from technical advances and creative developments in the field of in-car entertainment far into the future.

Rounding up the MINI Connected package is a Harmon Kardon HiFi loudspeaker system (480W/ 10 speakers) and Radio MINI Visual Boost with a 6.5 inches high-resolution colour LCD screen.The MINI Connected package retails at RM 14, 988.
