0Bertone creates sedan concept for Jaguar
Italian design house Bertone will show a sporty sedan concept created for Jaguar at the Geneva auto show next month. The B 99 concept previews a sedan that could become a new Jaguar entry-level model, succeeding the X type that was discontinued in 2009. Mike Robinson, Bertone’s chief designer, said the B 99 was made by Bertone in agreement with Jaguar as a view to a possible X-type replacement.
The B 99 is about the same length as a Mercedes C class at 4500mm long but is almost 2000mm wide to offer a roomy interior. The concept is likely to be shown with a hybrid powertrain. Jaguar plans to launch an entry-level sedan in 2013/2014 to boost sales. The X type was the company’s biggest seller and they hope this replacement will sell even better.
